Some years ago in Rotherham, the police and council officials were informed that some gangs were training little kids for sex. This warning wasn’t followed up with an instant counter action and today, the repercussions are quite visible.
The South Yorkshire Police and Rotherham Council had access to a list of suspects and a coinciding report that established a link between prostitution and drug-dealing in Yorkshire.
It was soon revealed that despite the repeated warnings year in, year out; nothing was done to stop the growing gang and their habits of child trafficking.
What could have been curbed years ago is not growing into a major concern for citizens.
This information came in 2003 and today there’s a high increase in Gang crime and prostitution which has become a serious challenge and social issue for the community.
Reports gathered state that as a result of negligence displayed, gangs have been left free to rape, sexually abuse and molest several people. What makes the story more heart-gutting is the fact that at least one thousand four hundred children (1,400) in the town have been affected between 1997 and 2003. The figures are also reported to sky-rocket if nothing is done by the police or any law enforcement agency.
The South Yorkshire Police claims to be embarking on series of investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission into misconduct issues.
It was also revealed by the Rotherham Council spokesman that the council has been unable to locate any reference to the reports having been taken into consideration by the council.[DailyMail ]
