Fashion on Budget
Today I would like to talk about ‘Fashion on Budget"; you have probably heard the saying ‘fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it’. The other day I was having a drink with some friends and my blog became a subject of discussion, where one of the ladies wanted to know if I shop second hand clothing at all, the other one went ahead and challenged me if have ever been to ‘Toi market’. That conversation got me wondering,’ is that what my readers think?’ But of course I do
So today I would like to introduce to you how I do it! I will be very honest with you, I do visit flea markets (Toi, Gikomba, Ngara) etc but not as much e.g. for the period have been in Nairobi have visited each once but that doesn’t mean I don’t get pieces from there. Over time I have established contacts who understand what I like, so once they get something which they think will work for me, they send me photos via whatsapp and then we make arrangements for delivery. If I also like something and it doesn’t seem to be in shops or its too costly I send them photos of the item and they do the search
Say for example; I still get my ripped/distressed jeans from Kongowea market Mombasa, all I do is send ‘Saeed’ photos of the kind of jeans I want and he will be sure to deliver.
Here are some of my contacts:
