L’Oréal Foundation in partnership with UNESCO[/caption]
Just yesterday, the five laureates of the 17th annual For Women in Science awards were show-cased. The award is usually organized by the L’Oréal foundation in partnership with the United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and it is aimed at recognizing the great strides of achievements by female scientists annually.
Usually, these five (5) female scientists are awarded in a splendid ceremony and this year the ceremony is scheduled to go live in Sorbonne, Paris on the 18th of March.

The award ceremony will be recognizing the following ladies:
-Molly S. Shoichet. Molly happens to be representing North America and she will be recognized for her biomaterial development which regenerates damaged nerve tissue as well as how she gives medication to the brain and spinal cord.
-Rajaâ Cherkaoui El Moursli. Rajaâ is representing Africa and the Arab States and is been recognized for playing a leading role is detecting the Higgs Boson particle.
-Yi Xie. Yi represents the Asia-Pacific region and was selected for her research involving the use of two dimensional nanomaterials to convert heat into electricity.
-Carol Robinson. From the European region is Carol who is being honored for creating a revolutionary means of understudying the functions of protein in cells that play a vital role in the human body.
– Thaisa Storchi Bergmann. Thaisa was selected from the region of Latin America and is being acknowledged for her work involving the black holes in the middle of galaxies.
In addition to these women that will be recognized; also present at the awards ceremony will be fifteen (15) PhD students and post-doctoral fellows who will be awarded International Rising Talent Grants.
