Breaking Silence

After taking a rather long break, I’m pleased to be back on the blog! I had the intention of blogging during my holiday but I guess we can all agree that’s tough call. On one side you have cocktails, the beach, pool, the sand and then there is a laptop on the other side; if I may ask what will you choose? Either way I had lots of fun and I’m happy to be back and refreshed. So to start us off, I decided to go for this blue jumpsuit from Floclaire. I wore this jumpsuit the other day when I was invited as a guest speaker for the creative course class by the Go Down of Arts. It was such a great pleasure to be on a panel of speakers alongside Nini Wacera and Joy Mboya. Have been invited by different institutions as a speaker before but I always ‘chicken out’ at the last moment. This was the very first time ever in my blogging that I have gone through with public speaking. I hope everyone enjoyed as much as I did and I am looking forward for the next chance to do the same!

So why did I choose this outfit for that occasion? I consider jumpsuits are very safe bet, for example in this situation I wasn’t exactly sure about the demographics of the audience so I decided to stick to a simple, classy but still stylish outfit. Since I was going to be in front of people the dressing had to be descent and not distracting. Then lastly, I decided to go for blue because the color blue is considered to have a calming effect! Here are more photos of the outfit…find details on where to get the pieces at the bottom of this post…

As A True Londoner Layering Is An Essential Part Of Styling | Playing With Proportions: Jumpsuits | MusteredLady.com

As A True Londoner - Playing With Proportions: Jumpsuits

Warmer weather often times translates into simpler clothes with fewer layering options; but as a true Londoner, layering is an essential part of styling each outfit. Lately, I’ve lightened my wardrobe a bit and opted for one-piece essentials, road-testing this printed jumpsuit. I love this Summer staple! As amazing and functional as a jumpsuit is, it can feel almost too simple without proper styling. My tip for wearing? Always pair with a heel and a fitted jacket, to balance out proportions and flaunt a feminine shape.

Talk about finding the perfect pun which addresses the scene of the photoshoot and, at the same time, what 2014 has been to me: The Coach.

I’ve learnt so much this year. From becoming aware of the power of the mind after witnessing some impossible goals come true, to understanding the importance of backing up my work after my laptop crashed (the most painful lesson of all).

I’ve always been the kind of person who likes to work towards goals be it simple to-do lists that I set out for myself on a daily basis, or a ridiculous, audacious five year goal that seems impossible. Setting these goals not only allows me to focus better but I also become accountable. For me, that’s what this time of the year is about; it’s a chance to look back and see what you were able to accomplish and re-write a new set of goals for yourself. That being said, January 1st is not the only time one can write these goals down but it does have a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

Happy new year muffins! I pray 2015 is filled with joy, peace, success and endless love. Cheers!

xx
