The spring ’16 men’s shows was filled with exciting talk from several fashion labels about cool sneakers. And Adidas was quick to respond with Spring 2016 Tubular Sneakers at Paris Fashion Week.
The world-famous athletic brand held a live presentation in Paris last night to show forth some spring ’16 styles that will feature in its Tubular footwear series which is dubbed from 1980s running technology. To support the launch was a moody, artistic showcase which took place in an underground venue where several local performers danced and revealed stunning acrobatic moves. There was also music and a lightshow by Parisan DJ Michel Gaubert.
Adidas disclosed that the new Nova, Doom, X and Defiant styles from the Tubular collection are “engineered to fit with a contemporary lifestyle where innovative technology is as important as a unique design language.”
The sneakers have a signature sole unit that is inspired by the classic Tubular 93 sneaker but a bit unique because it has been embedded in a monochromatic color scheme and materials like neoprene, leather and knitted uppers.

The singular crafter of this look was Nic Galway who is the Vice President of global design at Adidas. He is the man behind several other Adidas’ collaborations with Stella McCartney, Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens (though he didn’t show the styles in his most recent presentation).
His projects have been highly successful for Adidas especailly with respect to building important connections with the fashion world. They have also assisted the brand evolve the look of its own core collections to address today’s more sophisticated consumers.
