Frida Kahlo is best known for her self-portraits. She was a Mexican painter whose work is remembered for its “pain and passion”, and its serious, energetic hues. Frida’s work is still celebrated in Mexico as portrayal of national as well as indigenous tradition.Fact is, she was an artist and an acclaimed painter during her.According to her official website, “At 22 she married the famous Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, 20 years her senior. Their stormy, passionate relationship survived infidelities, the pressures of careers, divorce, remarriage, Frida’s bi-sexual affairs, her poor health and her inability to have children. Frida once said: “I suffered two grave accidents in my life…One in which a streetcar knocked me down and the other was Diego.” The streetcar accident left her crippled physically and Rivera crippled her emotionally.”Frida Kahlo died in 1954, and her spouse, Diego Rivera, shut up her belongings in a closet, demanding that it be opened only 15 years after his death. In fact, this locked closet wasn’t opened until 2004, when Ishiuchi Miyako photographed its intimate contents. In this post, we share of the photographed items that belonged to the artist, a s captured by Ishiuchi Miyako, from sunglasses to hand-painted corsets.
Frida’s items will be on exhibition at Michael Hoppen exhibition,
London SW3, from 14 May to 12 , under the theme, “Frida by Ishiuchi Miyako”. [credits:

[The Musteredlady Editorial Team’s remark: We are speechless to learn about the demise of Frida Kahlo. She may have had her shortcomings as a person, but that is human, for we all do have our shortcomings. However, Frida’s story deserves all the attention that it can gather. There is a catalog of lessons to be learnt from the life of Frida Kahlo. There is the good, the bad and the ugliest sides of Frida Kahlo – she simply represented strength and resilience. The pain and the passion that this artist endured during her lifetime, leaves in its wake much to be desired, much to be emulated as well as much not to be emulated, and much never to be repeated to any woman again in this our current generation. For the life she lived, Frida Kahlo will always be remembered]
