The Inspiring Story of a twenty-two year old – Grace Young
The story of Grace Young is quite inspiring. It tells the tale of a young twenty-two year old girl who is passionate to make positive changes in the world given her interest in ocean engineering.
At a very young age, Grace spent some time at her Grandfathers chocolate factory where she was amazed by the techniques via which robots packaged the chocolates. As a fascinated young girl, Grace grew up with high interest in robotics and machines and as a result of this, she made a decision to join here high school robotics team where she soared and eventually succeeded in starting her own all-girls team.
As a college student at MIT, Grace was rated as one of Glamour’s Top 10 College Women and it was during this celebrated event that she met Fabien Cousteau (an oceanographic explorer and filmmaker). After an intense discussion, Fabien encouraged her to join Mission 31, a project off the coast of Florida involving a team of scientists who were living at the bottom of the ocean for 30 days. An excited Grace took advantage of this rare opportunity while skipping her college graduation. During this mission, Graces’ task was to work with a high speed video camera that captured events in slow motion.
The experience from this mission was life changing for Grace and it dawned on her that the ocean is changing very fast and this could affect the eco-system negatively.
