ARE YOU IN LOVE WITH HIM OR A PERCEPTION OF HIM
I recently listened to a sermon where the preacher spoke about the fact that a lot of people who claim to be in love don’t have genuine claims. The reason was very simple- “They were in love with a perception of their so-called “beloved”.
Uhm, are you thinking what I’m thinking?
More often than not, when we claim to love an individual, we base our claims on the fact that they are sweet, romantic, complement our personalities, fun to be with, intelligent and the list goes on. We get closer to them and begin to see how awful they can really be, then we begin to give excuses like “we’re incompatible”, “we were never in love”, “love is blind”, bla bla bla.
And so my question to you today is very simple- Evaluate your relationship now…Are you in love with him or a perception of him?
Do you love him when he’s forthcoming and when he’s not?
Are you willing to stick with him if things don’t go as planned?
Will you still love him if he turns out not to be that “perfect” gentleman that you hoped for?
Love is everything but blind. Love sees the weaknesses and yet remains; love knows the good, bad and ugly but chooses to be involved; love is not here today and gone tomorrow; Love always remains. Don’t wait until you get into marriage before you realize that you were just in love with a perception of him.
How do I do this? You might be wondering. Get to know who he really is, spend as much time as possible with him, find out who his friends are and keep them close and most importantly, talk to God about him.
ARE YOU IN LOVE WITH HIM OR A PERCEPTION OF HIM?
