WORKING OUT YOUR MARRIAGE – Strategies To Engage To Get Your Marriage Working
A “funny” man once said that “Marriage is like a tower; those inside want to run out and those outside want to run in” How true is this? I get the fact that a lot of people end up discovering that marriage wasn’t really what they had expected but then there are still individuals who enjoy marriage and even regard their marriage as “Heaven on earth”.
Today, we’re going to be looking at some ways by which you can work out your marriage. At this point, you’ve gone past the stage of finding the right person and your energy should be channeled at “working out your marriage”.
Tips to adopt in working out your marriage include:
PRAYING TOGETHER: There is this famous adage which states that a couple that prays together stays together. And this can never be truer. How can you be married to someone and not take time to commit that marriage to God every single day? Marriage is not a puzzle that you try to find a solution to, it requires an investment of time, efforts and most importantly: prayers. Pray about everything; pray about your children; pray about your finance; pray for you in-laws; pray for each other and most importantly, pray for the future.
HAVE FUN TOGETHER: Fun shouldn’t end the day you get married; it should be continuous and spontaneous. The mistake a lot of people make is that the minute they get married, they think all the “work” is over. My dear, the work has just begun. To sustain your marriage effectively, you need to spend adequate time with your spouse. Go on surprise holidays, play a family game together, cook together, eat together…whatever you do, make sure that you’re having fun together.
BE AS UNDERSTANDING AS POSSIBLE: No matter how tempting it is, never lose your mind in marriage. Remain cool, calm and collected. To the best of your ability, ensure that you are as understanding as possible. Even when there is no reason to understand your spouse, create one…it often saves you a lot of heartache and worries. Try your best to reason with everything your spouse does and never vent anger on your spouse. There are several ways you can express your anger in marriage but beating, violence shouldn’t be part of it. In all situations faced by your marriage, be as understanding as possible.
