Ready to marry?
These days, the rate at which people get married is rather alarming and the rate of divorce is even more overwhelming. Please don’t get me wrong, marriage is a beautiful thing and it’s the dream of most girls to get married some day. However beyond this, marriage is a covenant between two individuals that should be respected regardless of what you see when you enter into it. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this. People run out of marriage at the slightest challenge. It wouldn’t be till death do us apart if marriage was a bed of roses.
Today I’m going to be looking at the yardstick via which you can know when you are ready for marriage.
Maturity: When I talk about maturity, I’m referring to physical, emotional, financial, spiritual maturity and maturity in every aspect of your life. You can’t be a child and think of marriage; you’re not physically matured. You can’t be emotionally unstable or emotionally imbalanced and consider marriage, it’s a no-no. You can’t be financially incapable and walk into marriage; you’ll walk out the same way you walked in. You must be spiritually matured to tackle the issues that challenge every marriage otherwise you’ll be running from one religious house to the other before you eventually run out of the marriage. Do a self-assessment and decide on whether or not you’re matured for marriage, if you are then you’re ready to marry.
You are with “the one”: Who is the one? The one is that person that complements and completes you; often referred to as your “better half”. You are ready to marry when you’ve successfully identified and you are in a beautiful relationship with the one who makes you happy, adds value to your life, helps you fulfill purpose and gives you every reason to look forward to a future with him/her.
You are ready to commit: Like I stated earlier, marriage is a commitment, a covenant that should be respected. It’s not something you run into because you think you are ready, you must be definitely sure that you are ready to commit. You must be very absolute about the fact that you are ready to commit yourself to the one that you’re venturing into marriage with. You must fully consider and understand the responsibilities, challenges and financial implications that come with marriage. Once you get past this bridge of being ready to commit, then you are ready to marry.
Your truly,
Tope
