First it was Monochrome now its Monochromatic …. What is Monochromatic ? Wikipedia definition: colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue. So that’s the definition of Monochromatic, and when applied to fashion, it means dressing in one color from head to toe. Monochromatic outfits are popping up in full force and the nice thing about this trend is that it is an all season outfit. Now there was a time when I thought wearing all one color was a big NO NO, but now I am going for the one shade style on a regular basis. There is no secret trick to wearing monochromatic outfits, as long as you have tops, bottoms and accessories in the same color. If you are new to the Monochromatic game, I’ve got a few tips and current looks to help get you started!
The first step is to pull different pieces such as tops and blouses, jeans, pants, skirts and shoes from your closet in the one color you want to wear the most. Make sure you choose a color that looks great on you to make a full outfit, like in the outfit above, Royal Blue, from head to toe. I am loving this look.
If you are a first timer to Monochromatic, an All Black is the safest colour to start with.
Add some shoes and a clutch which are of a different color to your Monochromatic outfit.
White is stylish and sleek.
To an All black, add some accessories to lighten up the outfit.
Despite how trendy monochromatic dressing is, it’s actually quite timeless in that you’re choosing colors or shades that look good on you, not just what’s in style. And wearing one color is practical, especially the one that is transitioning from season to season. Most importantly, anyone of any size can pull it off, as long as you start with a hue that complements you.
