According to BBC, the bride- Lovely Singh asked her groom- Ram Baran to solve a simple maths problem which involved adding fifteen (15) and sixteen (16) which he failed woefully by replying with seventeen (17), the bride called off the ceremony.

Despite how much they tried to convince Singh, her mind was made up and she refused to go through with the wedding. She stood firm, saying she refused to marry a man who was illiterate, according to reports. Police arrived at the event to help mediate, eventually getting the families to give all the wedding gifts back to the guests.”Just before the marriage ceremony, Lovely came to know that Ram Baran is illiterate and she refused to marry,” a police official told the BBC.The wedding was arranged by Mohar Singh (the bride’s father) and stated that the groom’s family refused to disclose the fact that their son was not educated.
