The Single Braid has returned at Lanvin
Last night at Lanvin, in the middle tons of hairbrushes, pins and blow-dryers, a unique oversize scrapbook was kept on a nearby table. According to hairstylist Julien d’Ys “It was her inspiration for the show”. She said this as she brought together a set of images that can be considered as elaborate and an enlarged picture showcasing an old Lanvin Arpège perfume bottle, as well as a halfed dozen of campaigns for the fashion house’s campaign and invitations that they’ve had over the years.
What really added a final touch of beauty to the night was a black and white portrait of a young lady named “Brigitte Bardot” in a woven ponytail and a 1970s looking Veruschka who wore a hairdo that was plainted.
“The look was pretty plain and simple” Julien stated as he refered to the single braid that he had settled for on the runway.
For the Hairstylist, who happens to be a legend and organizes a couple of fashion shows at the request of individuals, the evening was a major feat and accomplishment. He also stated that he did spring campaign for Lanvin, with Kirsten Owen and her daughter; and made mention of the fact that Alber Elbaz requested for him to do the evening show. He hopes to collaborate soon with Alber Elbaz.
His friendand makeup artist- Mat McGrath seemed a little over happy to see him. Mat also happens to have worked on several editorials for famous photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Steven Miesel and Paolo Roversi.
“We’re definitely having fun tonight” she stated.
McGrath was also seen making up models with the use of kohl along the inner rims and a bit of gray greasepaint close to the lashes. She stated that the look was definitely going to be recreated by urban girls en route to fashion parties later this week.
