Company hands out CONDOMS to staff
In a bid to reduce the impact of maternity leave on the profitability of their business, Australia’s top radio company (Southern Cross Austereo’s) provided condoms to their staff.
Linda Wayman who happens to be one of the senior executives at Southern Cross was reported to have revealed that she didn’t have faith in the union’s push to make women get back to work part time after maternity leave. According to Mumbrella she refered to it as “idealistic and anti-commercial stance”
The General Manager of CA’s two Perth stations (Mix 94.9 and Hit 929)- Miss Wayman happened to be speaking at a Membrella Perth conference.
Linda Wayman also stated at a conference on Thursday that ‘We do have a big jar of condoms at work. I’m not lying, I’m not exaggerating’
Ms Wayman also went on to state that the condoms were made available to prevent pregnancies among staff members.
Ms Wayman also told the audience that the impact of maternity leave on company profits was becoming too much and needed to be curbed. She expressed that she had reservations about the entitlements that new mothers received when entering the workforce. She regarded as “anti-commercial”.
Another staff of the company also told Daily Mail Australia that the reports are not a reflection of the General Manager’s attitude towards the treatment of women.
According the to the employee “Linda is a great advocate for issues pertaining to women; she is highly respected and wonderful in her role”.
