Fatima Siad’s Word On Finance
Today, I was going through some photo shots that Fatima Siad got made of herself in March this year. This took place at the L’Uomo Vogue and Woolmark Company’s Gala and Exhibition held in Sydney, Australia. And then I was interrupted for awhile and then I had to do some surfing on YouTube. And alas! I came across this YouTube mini clip in which, Fatimah discusses finance. It’s just awesome, fun to hear but thought provoking at the same time.
By the way, you may be asking yourself by now, “Who is Fatima Siad?” Fatima Siad is a top model, signed up currently with IMG Models in New York City, Paris, Milan, and London, and Ace Models in Athens, Greece, as well as with Munich Models in Munich, Germany. Fatima is also a television personality, who has been featured on the reality show, America Next Top Model, Cycle 10. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, she’s raised up in both Somalia and the United States, where she currently resides.
Back to my story: In the clip that I stumbled across today on YouTude, Fatima shares some personal experiences on uncontrolled spending and what happens thereafter. She then advices other ladies, especially those in the same or similar industry as hers, on the need to save money in the bumper seasons. The following are excerpts from this video clip:
“I will make so much money, and I am like, ‘Oh, I am rich’. And then, I will go on a shopping spree, and then I will buy things, and then I forget that I am in a really unpredictable industry. And then, there comes some months when it looks like nothing is going to happen, and I am like, ‘What am I going to do then?"”
“So, always always, save from what you make, like a half of it or two-thirds of it, just put it away. Because, this industry, you will never know and it moves very fast. And it’s always like, ‘What’s new? What’s hot?’ Today, you are hot, tomorrow you are like nothing, you know? So, I think just save, and always have a plan B, like I am glad I went to college. You can not always depend on how you look.
It’s always better to say … it is always good to have variety, with what you do. you should have a backup, and save because the money comes and stops, and then months later, and then it comes again.”
