Karl Lagerfeld Stages Women’s Rights Demo
CHANEL Spring/Summer 2015 Lived Up To Expectation
The much expected crowd puller, CHANEL SS15, lived up to expectation. The venue, was the famous, Grand Palais, in Paris. It was transformed, to reflect the theme of Chanel’s political campaign, “Make Fashion Not War”, as a bedrock to its superbly engineered Spring/Sumner 2015 collections.
The fashion begins as expected. Everything goes on well as planned. The crowd were in different level of high spirits, having seen first hand, Chanel collections for the Spring/Summer 2015. Then, out of nowhere, emerges top model, Cara Delevingne with a megaphone, and gives a battle cry, “Come on!”. And then shows up other top-models as well, armed with placard, and the Chanel show ends and turns into a protest scene. The world’s top-models display how versatile they are, by turning themselves into freedom fighter. Our ladies fought with placards such as , “Ladies First”, “Feministe Mais Feminine”(“Feminist But Feminine”) etc.
Watch this clip:
Surprised surprised, were the majority of the gathered crowd of fashion enthusiasts but not really everybody, like Karl Lagerfeld and the models, was surprised. The protest, were well planned and orchestrated. And Karl Lagerfeld, was one of the top planner of this action.
Karl Lagerfeld, one of the best designers and fashion icons that the world has ever seen, is someone who works with women, understands women, not only in the fashion industry, but generally. Our women, the sustainers of our tomorrow, are not happy about the way the world and our political leaders handle matters, when it comes to the issue of “feminism”. Maybe the organizers of this protest, might have consulted with world renown feminists like Chimamanda Ngozi and Beyonce Knowles, maybe they have not. In whichever case, they message was clear and the propagation of it, went as planned. Much credit to the protest organizers, including Karl Lagerfeld.
Fast forward. Is Karl Lagerfeld a feminist? That’s million dollar question. As explained earlier, Karl is designer, who works with women (and men). He understands women, he knows what they go through, that is, those in the fashion industry, the world’s top female models etc. Therefore in a sense, Karl is a feminist because he can relate to feminism than most of the world’s political leaders do. He is someone that our ladies can relate well to, and trust.
