Something, somewhere got wrong, and some ‘unpleasant’ situations have been created around the private pictures of some notables. And this happening out on the internet. Photos of celebrities, which includes ( according to Mashable.com)these celebrities:
Aly and AJ Michalka, Aubrey Plaza, Abby Elliott, Avril Lavigne, Amber Heard, Brie Larson, Candice Swanepoel, Cara Delevigne, Emily Ratjakowski, Farrah Abraham, Gabrielle Union, Hayden Pannettiere, Hope Solo, Hillary Duff, Jenny McCarthy, Kayley Cuoco, Kate Upton, Kate Bosworth, Keke Palmer, Kim Kardashian, Kirsten Dunst, Krysten Ritter, Lea Michele, Lizzy Caplan, Mary Kate Olsen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rihanna, Scarlet Johansson, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Wynona Ryder, Alison Brie and Dave Franco.
got leaked or hacked from their iCloud repositories. Apple Inc. has taken these allegation seriously, and has responded as expected as follows (this an excerpt on that from latimes.com‘s publication on September 1):
Apple said Monday in a statement that it is “actively investigating” reports that the photos were stolen from its iCloud service. Apple did not say whether its service, or celebrity iCloud accounts, were breached.
“We take user privacy very seriously,” Apple spokeswoman Nat Kerris said.
Apple has further confirmed, according to Mashable.com, that celebrity accounts were actually hacked, but then, it also denies iCloud breach.
Invariably too, key to the spread of these private celebrity photos, have been the bulletin boards, 4chan.org and reddit.com. The former and the latter, are two hugely popular anonymous online message boards.
Comedian, Ricky Gervais (a Multi Emmy, Bafta, & Golden Globe-winning Writer, Director, Actor, Producer, Author and Stand up Comedian) took to tweet on Monday on the issue, apparently in a hasty personal opinion of his on this subject matter. This is what he twitted:
“Celebrities, make it harder for hackers to get nude pics of you from your computer by not putting nude pics of yourself on your computer”
To show Ricky how too quickly he jumped to his conclusions, Emily Reynolds, a celebrated advocate for women cause, slammed the former back, on the same day, with the following tweet (Ricky has deleted his comment, anyway, and MusteredLady.com has checked the deletion and it is true) :
“In case you missed his hastily deleted tweet, here is Ricky Gervais blaming the violation of a woman’s body on her.”
Perez Hilton, a well known celebrity news writer, has also taken his beatings, on a not-so-thoughtful posting he did on his website, about one of the celebrities in question, Jennifer Lawrence. Perez decided to go to YouTube to accept responsibilities for his actions and apologize.
Jennifer Lawrence & Me (And My Thoughts On What Happened)
Mustered ladies, lets use some wisdom. Both Ricky and Emily are right to some extent, even though, Emily’s comment is says it much better than that of Ricky.
The question is,”How safe are the technology out there? Can these be trusted with our privacy?? iOS-powered phones are great, but should we begin to migrate to Androids, Blackberries, Windows Phone, and Windows Mobile in the wake of these uncertainties?? Or should we humans apply more and more of our common senses???”
