What to expect in marriage

What to expect in marriage What to expect in marriage

A lot of times, people are about to venture into marriage and they really don’t know what to expect. Some go into marriage counseling sessions (which are very advisable) while other result to friends and family members for advice on what to expect.

Today, I’m going to be sharing with you on certain things that you should expect when you tie the knot.

Raising children is not as easy as it looks: You watch those really nice movies where the mother comfortably runs the home by taking good care of her husband and ensuring that are children have all they need. As possible as this is; in real life it’s more difficult to attain. From the step where you bring a child into the world to the step where you buy him/her first school bag, you’ll need the Grace of God to do it effectively well. And when she/he becomes a teenager who feels too restricted or is getting bullied in school, you’ll need the right words per time to minister to child and guard him/her on the right path.

You will get “so pissed” with your spouse at some point: Uhm, this is simply what I mean-you’ll get to that point where you’re so mad at your spouse and you begin to wonder if you guys were truly a “match made in heaven”. Your husband might do things that might drive you to the point of near madness and you wife might say things that might hurt you beyond your imagination but understand this; successful marriages require love, understanding, patience, prayers, commitment and hard-work. These are the things that keep a marriage together even when the captain and co-captain are at loggerheads.

You will miss “being single: Once you are married, your single days are finally over and no matter how you decide to look at it, it doesn’t change the fact that there are certain restrictions and boundaries that will be placed upon you as a husband or a wife. In the name of performing you “wifey” or “hubby” duties, there are certain things you could do as a single (like keeping extremely late nights, changing girls like wrappers, toasting the next available girl, etc) that the institution of marriage doesn’t support. There are times you would sit back and reminiscence over your single days but one thing is for sure; you don’t have a problem when you marry the right person.
