Trust in a relationship
A wise man once said “Love and trust are like a pair of shoes; without one, you can’t go anywhere”. Today, I’m going to talking to you about trust in a relationship.
To love someone and even go as far as giving your heart to them in a relationship is a risk on its own and it only makes sense to give yourself peace by learning to trust them. Trusting people can be very difficult especially when you’ve had reasons to doubt them or if you’ve been hurt in the past. But then, for how long are you going to imprison your mind with hurts from the past or mistakes made by others. It’s about time to liberate your mind and move your relationship forward.
If you’re having trust issues, the following will come in very handy:
Don’t go into a relationship with someone you don’t trust: Dating a person you don’t trust is like punishing yourself. It’s like boarding a ship whose destination you don’t know and so wherever it takes you too might turn out to be way-below your expectations. Don’t do that to yourself and to someone you obviously don’t really care about.
Make a decision to “trust” you partner: Just like love, trust is a decision to believe that the person you’re giving your heart to won’t hurt you. You must make that conscious decision and learn to trust your partner even when the circumstances surrounding an issue are absolutely “crazy” and don’t give room for exercising trust.
Ask God to help you trust: Sometimes, our background, environmental and psychological factors that influence our growing up often make us into individuals that “can’t” trust what anyone says. At this point, we find it difficult to trust anyone let alone give our hearts out for fear of heart-break. However, this is not enough reason not to trust the one you love and it becomes wise to ask God to help you trust your partner.
