THE 3RD PARTY SYNDROME IN A RELATIONSHIP

A relationship should be between two individuals and God; any other person is a “third-party” and this brings me to the topic of today.

A “third-party” can simply be defined as any other person that is not in your relationship. They could be friends, siblings, parents or even your family relations. As helpful as a “third-party” can be when a relationship is facing obstacles, they can also be highly destructive if you allow them.

A lot of relationships do no longer exist because they were wrongly affected by the “third-party” syndrome. This syndrome comes in form of wrong advice and nudges from persons outside your relationship who often think that they know more than the individuals in the relationship. As much as it pays to listen to those who are older and wiser than you, it’s more important to do what is right by your feelings being in line with the word of God.

The only “third-party” that should be allowed to have full access to your relationship is God and this is simply because, without Him, your relationship will head into crisis and never achieve the much desired success of every relationship.

I urge you today to review your relationship and identify any third party that has done nothing but downplay the happiness in your relationship and fought against the forward movement of your relationship. It’s time to put them in their place and give your relationship the much needed breathing space before it dies of the “third-party” syndrome.
