BEFORE YOU START DATING
These days, I hear that even children as young as 9 years old date each other. It’s like entering a relationship has become a yardstick for growing up. This shouldn’t be so and that’s probably one of the many reasons why unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and so many other vices are very rampant in the society.
Relationships are not supposed to be seen as ordinary circles that you can walk in and out of whenever you feel like. They are a definite path that you should choose to walk on only when you’re ready.
Today, I’m going to sharing with you things that I believe should be in place before you consider walking in a relationship.
SPIRITUAL MATURITY: This simply refers to a defined level of growth in your walk with God; in which you can talk to God and hear from Him conveniently. Being spiritually mature simply means that: you are more concerned about the things of God than the things of the world; you are more spiritually-minded than carnally minded; you are more concerned about making heaven than anything in this world. If you haven’t attained this level spiritually, then my friend; you are not even close to being ready for a serious-minded relationship that will culminate into eternal happiness.
HAVE A VISION, GOAL FOR YOUR LIFE: In life, if you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll be tossed anywhere by situations, events and even people. You need to know your vision and it must align with your God-given purpose. If you can’t identify you vision, goal in life as a single lad/lady, it will be more difficult finding that out when you’re “double”. There’s really no rush or an award for “Earliest couple” in town. What matters is that you have a vision for your life and then you can proceed to find that person who will love and support you in achieving this vision.
BE FINANCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY PREPARED: Like I always tell you, relationships are an investment of time, money and emotions which you can’t afford to waste anyhow. Before you start dating, you must be financially and emotionally prepared. You must be capable of meeting certain financial obligations that might arise and also, your heart must be strong enough to withstand any emotional attacks. You know you are financially prepared when you have a steady source of income and you know you’re emotionally prepared when you can control your emotions.
